How to Make Tahini

Recipe: Tahini


  • 4 cups sesame seeds
  • 1/4-1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Spread the sesame seeds on a baking tray and bake 8 to 10 minutes, shaking frequently, until fragrant,
  3. Put the baked sesame seeds in a mixer.
  4. Add the extra virgin olive oil.
  5. Process to a smooth paste, about five minutes.
  6. Add more olive oil if needed, to make the paste more consistent.

Quick notes

The Tahini can be stored in a tightly covered jar in the refrigerator for several months.
